Catalogation’s criteria
You can catalogue fruit labels both in alphabetical and typological order (banana labels, citrus labels, etc.). In the alphabetical order you can follow the chronological order (date of pubblication of the fruit labels of the same farm), but in the typological order you can follow an alphabetical order.
You can catalogue fruit labels in alphabetical or typological (banana labels, citrus labels, etc.) order. Inside the alphabetical order you will follow the chronological order (issue date of the labels of the same farm); inside the typological order you will follow the alphabetical order.
Finding a label without name of brand it’s not very rare. There are labels with a figure only, besides field or possible frames. It becomes difficult cataloguing them. Other labels have a number only. We can follow 2 ways:
- Arranging these labels before A or Z and cataloguing them in alphabetical order, taking figure or number into account (Palm, Redskin, Teppe, for example).
- Cataloguing them in alphabetical order together with the common labels.
I insert my labels in alphabetical order. It’s not always possible, since exist labels that have only a picture (like a tepee or a palm). At this point, I arrange them after Z letter, in alphabetical order taking the picture into account now.
You will find some difficulties with other brands: such as, for example, Co-operative Society X, Agricultural Union Y, etc. It’s important, in these cases, to use either first word- or the farm name- or the head surname.
I advice you to use first word (even if I haven’t done it for laziness): it’s more quick and easy.
Another way you can follow is classifying labels according to fruit. I consider this way dispersive, since a farm can produce more than a kind of fruit.
